If there is one person in Hollywood who deserves a career-spanning documentary, it’s Martin Short. Netflix clearly agrees, because they just released the trailer for Marty, Life Is Short, and it’s already shaping up to be a must-watch.
The trailer doesn’t just show the funny stuff (though seeing Ed Grimley and Jiminy Glick again is a treat). It touches on the “speed of joy” that Short operates at, even while navigating incredible personal loss. We get glimpses of interviews with his closest friends—Steve Martin, Eugene Levy, and Tom Hanks—and even some posthumous footage from the late, great Catherine O’Hara.
Short has this unique ability to be the funniest person in the room while being incredibly grounded. As he says in the trailer, even during the hardest years of his life, “there were laughs… and that’s the point.”
This doc looks like it’s going to be a masterclass in comedy and resilience. Mark your calendars for May 12—this is one “short” story you won’t want to miss.
