A theory that went viral in 2016 suggests that the unnamed girl in Rick Springfield’s “Jessie’s Girl” is the same girl named Jenny in Tommy Tutone’s “867-5309/Jenny”.

Fountains of Wayne’s hit “Stacy’s Mom” is also connected in the theory, proposing that Stacy’s mom could be the same woman discussed in the other songs.

Despite lacking substantial evidence, the theory caught the attention of Rick Springfield himself, who has performed a mashup of all three songs.

The theory suggests a storyline where Rick Springfield wins over Jessie’s girl, leading to the birth of Stacy, whose mom becomes the subject of “Stacy’s Mom”.
