“Free As A Bird: A Song Reborn” is a new short film that delves into the making of The Beatles’ 1994 single “Free as a Bird,” which brought Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr back together after 24 years. The trio utilized an unfinished demo by John Lennon to craft the song, as revealed in the short film.

The short film showcases previously unseen footage from the studio sessions, capturing the trio collaborating with producer Jeff Lynne while discussing Lennon’s absence and their approach to the song. The making of “Free as a Bird” is also highlighted in the updated version of “The Beatles Anthology”, which now includes a ninth installment with additional content from the song’s sessions.

“Free as a Bird” became a significant success for The Beatles, reaching the top10 on the U.S. charts and earning them a Grammy for best pop performance by a duo or group with vocal.
