Get ready, Wisconsin! The new film “Song Sung Blue,” hitting theaters this holiday season, is bringing a true-life, feel-good story right out of Milwaukee to the big screen.
Starring the incredible duo of Hugh Jackman as Mike Sardina and Kate Hudson as Claire Stengl, this musical drama is based on the real-life couple who became local legends as the Neil Diamond tribute band, Lightning & Thunder.
The story begins in the late 1980s in Milwaukee. Mike, a former Vietnam vet and recovering alcoholic, is a down-on-his-luck musician performing Don Ho tributes at the Wisconsin State Fair. Claire, a single mother and part-time hairdresser, is also hustling as a Patsy Cline impersonator.
The two meet backstage at the State Fair and the sparks fly instantly—both romantically and creatively. The film charts their journey as they fall in love, get married in front of fans, blend their families, and chase a dream bigger than their Midwestern struggles.
This film looks like the perfect “get in the car, we’re going to the movies together on Christmas”, movie. Song Sung Blue in theaters December, 25 (Christmas Day).
