Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson performed the national anthem at Pittsburgh’s home opener yesterday at Acrisure Stadium. Dickinson, described it as a “huge honor” to be invited to sing the anthem. Fans were surprised by the NFL’s choice of a British singer for the American anthem, with some questioning the decision. After a little shaky start, Dickinson nailed the performance and showed off his vocal chops. He is currently on his Mandrake Project solo tour in North America, with a new Iron Maiden documentary set to be released later this year to celebrate the band’s 50th anniversary.
