John Fogerty re-recorded some of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s songs for his new album, marking the culmination of his journey to reclaim his hits. Fogerty regained the publishing rights to his songs two years ago, which he saw as a liberation after feeling like a “prisoner of war” for decades.
Fogerty initially refused to play Creedence songs onstage but was encouraged by Bob Dylan to do so. Fogerty’s creative burst in 1969 resulted in three classic albums due to his obsessive work ethic and dedication to his band.
The 20-track collection entitled “Legacy: The Creedence Clearwater Revival Years” will be released August 22nd.
