Hours Of Unseen Footage From “Cancelled Van Halen Chronicles Documentary” Released

Over five hours of never-before-seen Van Halen footage from the band’s early years, including live performances, backstage moments, and outtakes, have been released on YouTube by a user named Vega.

The footage is part of a “cancelled Van Halen Chronicles documentary” and spans key moments in the band’s history, such as supporting Black Sabbath in 1978 and their set at the 1984 Monsters of Rock festival.

David Lee Roth is seen in a 1978 clip casually smoking a cigarette before a Madison Square Garden show, setting the stage with his quip: “The air is ripe with anticipation.”

The videos include backstage footage, outtakes from music videos, and a silent clip of the band visiting a McDonald’s in Tokyo. Check out one of the clips below.
