One of the the biggest moments in the history of both television and rock’n’roll happened on this day, 61 years ago. It was Feb. 9th, 1964 when The Beatles made their debut on The Ed Sullivan Show – performing for a record-breaking audience of 73 million people.
The Fab Four opened with a three-song set of “All My Loving”, “Till There Was You”, and “She Loves You”, then closed the hour with “I Saw Her Standing There” and “I Want To Hold Your Hand”. The Beatles would return to The Ed Sullivan Show the following two Sundays, and make one final live appearance on Sept. 12th, 1965.
