One of the most infamous – and infamously disgusting – moments in rock history happened 20 years ago today: the Dave Matthews Band poop incident.
On August 8th, 2004, the driver of DMB’s tour bus emptied the septic tank, dumping 800 pounds of waste into the Chicago River.
Except it didn’t land in the water – it landed on a sightseeing boat called ‘Chicago’s Little Lady’, soaking passengers on the upper deck.
The driver would plead guilty to charges of reckless conduct and water pollution, and the band made generous donations to the Chicago Park District.
