The rock world is reeling from the sudden loss of KISS founding guitarist Ace Frehley, who has passed away at the age of 74. Co-founders Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley were quick to release a powerful statement, honoring the late “Spaceman” as an “essential and irreplaceable rock soldier” who was crucial to the band’s formative years.
They extended their deepest condolences to Frehley’s family and legions of fans across the globe. Adding a personal touch to the tragedy, Stanley shared an emotional throwback photograph, reflecting on their close relationship during the group’s earliest days.
I remember 1974 being in my room at the Hyatt on Sunset in LA and I heard someone playing deep and fiery guitar in the room next door. I thought “Boy, I wish THAT guy was in the band!” I looked over the balcony… He was. It was Ace. This is my favorite photo of us… pic.twitter.com/3ojMXqVkQr
