“Lynyrd Skynyrd’s iconic song ‘Free Bird’ never had an official music video until Louisville’s Max Moore was hired to produce and direct the first official video in February 2025.” Moore collaborated with his brother Alex Moore, a big Lynyrd Skynyrd fan, to create a story that captures the essence of the song’s lyrics about love, freedom, and loss.

The video features an older man reminiscing about his past, interspersed with flashbacks to happier times, culminating in an emotionally charged guitar solo. Local scenes in Kentucky and Indiana, including the Cousins’ home in Buechel, former D. Nalley’s diner in Old Louisville, and Powder Keg Fireworks in Jeffersonville, were used as settings for the video.

The video, which premiered on Lynyrd Skynyrd’s YouTube channel, has already garnered over a million and a half views and was released to coincide with the band’s 50th Anniversary tour and a new live album.
