Former members of REO Speedwagon, including keyboardist Neal Doughty and drummer Alan Gratzer, returned to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus where they met in the mid-1960s.
The university honors famous alumni by attaching gold plates to their former dorm room doors, and REO Speedwagon founding members have received this recognition. Doughty and Gratzer, along with former bass player Bruce Hall, visited their respective dorm rooms at Townsend Hall during the Honoring the Legacy of REO Speedwagon event.
The trio also stopped by Vriner’s Confectionery, featured on the back cover of the band’s 1972 album, as part of the week’s activities leading up to the event.
