Here’s a summer activity with a side of nostalgia: Remember the “Book It” program at Pizza Hut? There’s an app for that now.
Pizza Hut announced “Book It” is going digital for the first time in its 40-year history . . . because kids don’t care about anything now unless there’s a phone involved. But it’s just to TRACK their reading, not to read actual books on.
The press release says reading skills tend to dip this time of year because kids just don’t read as much. By the time they’re in middle school, they’ve supposedly lost TWO YEARS’ worth of book-learnin’ to what’s called the “summer slide.”
“Book It” essentially works the same way it did when Pizza Hut launched it in the mid-1980s. Read books, get free pizza.
You can find a link to the app at BookItProgram.com and use it to set monthly reading goals . . . track your kid’s progress . . . and redeem rewards. They can earn one Personal Pan Pizza per month in June, July, and August.
