Netflix has canceled the release of a six-part Prince documentary directed by Ezra Edelman. The Prince Estate and Netflix have reached an agreement that will allow the estate to produce a new documentary with exclusive content from Prince’s archive.
The cancellation comes after the estate claimed the original film contained factual inaccuracies and sensationalized events from Prince’s life. Edelman, known for “O.J.: Made in America,” had been working on the documentary for over four years and had extensive access to Prince’s archives. The original deal called for a six-hour series, but Edelman delivered nine hours of footage, leading to the cancellation of the project. Since making the announcement the Prince estate posted this video to X.
