Patti Scialfa, wife of Bruce Springsteen and member of the E Street Band, has been battling blood cancer for years.
She opens up about it for the first time in the new documentary Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, which premiered at Toronto International Film Festival over the weekend.
The 71-year-old Scialfa says she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2018, while she was doing Springsteen on Broadway with her husband.
She says it severely limits her ability to tour: “Every once in a while, I come to a show or two and I can sing a few songs on stage, and that’s been a treat. That’s the new normal for me right now, and I’m OK with that.”
Road Diary will stream on Hulu and Disney+ starting Oct. 25th.
