A video of Metallica paying tribute to Elton John and Bernie Taupin, who received the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song from the Library of Congress on March 20, is making the rounds.

While John and Taupin watched, the metal legends performed a cover of their 1973 classic “Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding,” the opening track from John’s signature album, ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.’

The band previously wrote on their website, “Elton and Bernie have been collaborating for 56 years and counting, and together, they have penned some of our lifetime’s most memorable and influential songs. We are thrilled to celebrate this honor with them.”

The full concert will air on PBS on Sunday April, 7th at 7 o’clock.  In the meantime checkout the phone/video clip below.
