A new trend report is coming out and Ube,(you-bae) is going to be the 2024 flavor of the year. Now if you have never heard of it, you’re not alone, neither have I. It’s a bright purple root grown in the Philippines. Ube has a nutty, sweet and mildly earthy taste and can be used in a variety of desserts like ice cream, beverages like bubble tea and savory dishes like mashed potatoes. Asian flavors and ingredients are on the rise in the US and it’s believed we will be seeing more Ube, lychee, miso, matcha and yuzu in the year to come.
Popular flavors for 2023 included: spicy maple, mushrooms, birria and ranch water (I couldn’t get behind that one). Check out more here!
