Forty years ago, Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain had a dream that would lead to one of the band’s biggest hits.
Cain once said that the melody from “Faithfully” came to him in a dream.
After that, the rest of the song came together fast: “I’d never had a song come to me so quickly that it was anointed, supernatural. Literally, in 30 minutes I had written that song.”
The song became a top 20 hit and even inspired the Prince hit “Purple Rain”.
