Cheap Trick’s Fifth Man Makes It More Of A Family Affair

By Greg Oct 21, 2022 | 1:36 PM

We’ve all heard of the strength of the bench in sports.  The sixth man especially in basketball making crucial plays and leading his or her team to victory.  So it goes for Rockford Illinois Favorite Sons Cheap Trick.  Robin Taylor Zander, Robin Zander’s 28- year- old son has been doing more than his share in keeping the Cheap Trick machine rolling. Robin Taylor took over bass guitar duties last year when bassist Tom Petersson had heart surgery and even played the legendary twelve string bass while singing background vocals.  When Daxx Nielson took some time off to be present for the birth of his child, you got it,  Robin Taylor hopped up behind the kit and did a flawless job until Daxx’s return.  And, believe it or not, when Rick Nielson was down with some health issues, Robin Taylor once again stepped in to play lead guitar!  Robin Taylor Zander has played every role in Cheap Trick EXCEPT filling in for his father Robin on lead vocals!  When it comes to stepping up for a Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame band and a family known as Cheap Trick, hats off to Robin Taylor Zander and his awesome talent!
